The Real Story of the First Thanksgiving
By Benjamin Franklin (1785)

“There is a tradition that in the planting of New England, the first settlers met with many difficulties and hardships, as is generally the case when a civiliz’d people attempt to establish themselves in a wilderness country. Being so piously dispos’d, they sought relief from heaven by laying their wants and distresses before the Lord in frequent set days of fasting and prayer. Constant meditation and discourse on these subjects kept their minds gloomy and discontented, and like the children of Israel there were many dispos’d to return to the Egypt which persecution had induc’d them to abandon.

“At length, when it was proposed in the Assembly to proclaim another fast, a farmer of plain sense rose and remark’d that the inconveniences they suffer’d, and concerning which they had so often weary’d heaven with their complaints, were not so great as they might have expected, and were diminishing every day as the colony strengthen’d; that the earth began to reward their labour and furnish liberally for their subsistence; that their seas and rivers were full of fish, the air sweet, the climate healthy, and above all, they were in the full enjoyment of liberty, civil and religious.

“He therefore thought that reflecting and conversing on these subjects would be more comfortable and lead more to make them contented with their situation; and that it would be more becoming the gratitude they ow’d to the divine being, if instead of a fast they should proclaim a thanksgiving. His advice was taken, and from that day to this, they have in every year observ’d circumstances of public felicity sufficient to furnish employment for a Thanksgiving Day, which is therefore constantly ordered and religiously observed.”

General John Abizaid said in the Washington Times, "The only problem [is] that there appears to be a patience problem … within the Beltway," he said. "When I talk to civilian audiences, I don’t get the same sense of impatience that I detect here in the Beltway."  We everyday people get the message, STAY The Course!

Open Letter To George’s Mama

Cindy Sheehan
PeaceJournalism

Dear Barbara,

On April 04, 2004, your oldest child killed my oldest child, Casey Austin Sheehan.

Unlike your oldest child, my son was a marvelous person who joined the military to serve his country and to try and make the world a better place. Casey didn’t want to go to Iraq, but he knew his duty. Your son went AWOL from a glamour unit. George couldn’t even handle the Alabama Air National Guard. Casey joined the Army before your son became commander in chief. We all know that your son was thinking of invading Iraq as early as 1999. Casey was a dead man before George even became president and before he even joined the Army in May of 2000.

Is this for real? I’m sorry Cindy, but you abandoned Casey when he was a young child to be raised by his father and step-mother. He wanted to fight the war in Iraq. He volunteered as an "adult" and knew what he was getting into.

I hate the way these liberal "anti-war" types think that being in the reserves is like. W did not avoid going to Vietnam. He could have gone, but the upper brass said no. The elder Bush was the UN Ambassador at the time and it was too risky to have Jr. go to war.

Being in the reserves is not easy either. NavyHusband works hard with training and supporting those who are "active" duty and fighting in the War. One weekend out of the month and a two weeks in the summer, NavyHusband is away from Navy Family. The Navy Girls miss Dad when He’s gone. I have no gripes at all when he is gone. It is a pain, but I have more sympathy for the military family’s who have a deployed love one. They are the ones who are felling the pain. I admire the troops and the families who support them. They are true Americans!

The troops depend on the reserves to support their activities. We are all "fighting" against our enemies. The whole military needs our support.

Come support the troops and Judge Alito

All I’m saying about Rep. Murtha is I’m honoring  his service. I do question his motives and were he is coming from. But I’m not calling him a coward.  I’ll stick to supporting our troops and completing the mission our Commander-In-Chief commands us to do.

Here’s a Hat tip from Blogs for Bush, sign the petition on Stop the Madness:

We the undersigned believe it is time to unite this country. These baseless political attacks must stop. We are at war! 160,000 US Armed Forces are in Iraq fighting and winning. They deserve better. We call on Democratic leaders to stop the attacks on the President and our troops. And we call on Republicans in Congress to do a better job of stopping these attacks and stand with the President and our troops as well!

And when you are done signing that petition, go to Judge Alito.com to sign the petition there. We need to get this guy confirmed. The Dems are digging the dirt and we need to stop them in their tracks.

Ventura Fires

Sunday, November 20th, 2005

My family lives in Ventura and that’s were I got married to Navy husband almost eleven years ago this December. School Canyon hasn’t had a burned for quite a while. I remember when Ojai and Matiliha burned back in the 80’s. Pictures from KNBC 4.

Is he really dead?

Just breaking on the Little Green Football, al-Zarqawi killed by explosions in Mosul as reported by Arab TV here. Let’s hope our prayers are answered.

God bless our troops and I wish them a very good thanksgiving  and their loved ones!

Treason I say!

I’m angered that the "rehabilitated" 3rd term former President Bill Clinton is bashing US troops effort by speaking against the war. My husband has served in the NAVY for over 24 years now. (Under Reagan, Bush 41, Clinton, Bush 43). He said the Clinton years were the worst. His Downsizing the Military and CIA led to the weakening of our country.

General Tommy Franks said that  he never got invited to the White House while Clinton was in office. When W got elected he was invited in first thing. Gen. Franks task was to brush off the "Iraq" plan that Clinton worked on and update it. W wanted to make sure all our bases were covered and not venerable to attack. Any Tyrant who has killed citizens in his own country with WMD’s should be looked at.

I hate it now the "Rehabilitated" Former 3rd term President debunks what was said back in 1998 about Iraq and Saddam here.

My message to ‘41′ and ‘43′ is Don’t invite Former President Clinton on any more Disaster relief missions in the future. All he’s doing is getting press converge to "rehabilitate his image"  (all the things he did not do) and promote his wife Hillary to office. All our efforts in the GWOT and support of the troops are in jeopardy if Hillary is elected in 2008.

I’m glad W is fighting back. Our Men and Women in the military are doing a fantastic job in Iraq and Afghanistan. They are truly great Americans to serve our great country. The evils we are fighting want to overthrow our way of life.  All of us must to back the troops up. Even Former Commander-In-Chiefs.

Honoring the Veterans

Friday, November 11th, 2005

I thought the President’s speech was powerful today. I’m glad he’s taking the offense and defending our Veteran’s and troops. I just hope he stays on the offense and any attack from the left must be defended. Our mission in Iraq and the Global War of Terror must continue until the evil islamo-fascists are captured or killed! We must stay the course, our mission is clear. It’s our livelihood, our freedoms that are in jeopardy.

Courage and patience America. God Bless the veterans of past, present and future wars. Without you, we would not be free!

Thanks for calling in the ACLU

Thursday, November 10th, 2005

I’m really getting mad at parents in the Fullerton School District who are opposing the 1:1 laptop program. The program is voluntary and costs 1,500 for the lease to own Apple ibook for 3 years. (30 payments of about $50.00). The school district  plan includes insurance, all software (no extra charge to parents), virus protection and hardware warranty. More information here.

A parent, Sandra Dingess who had 4 children at Fisler School called in the ACLU to complain to the FSD.  Ms. Dingess complaint is the FSD discriminated against her  children because she had to request for financial aid. Excuse me, but I remember I had to buy my flute to be in the school band way back when.

I think since the 1:1 is voluntary, the problem is there will be children in classes who don’t have computers and will have to look over others who have computers or designated schools with no  1:1 laptops program.  I like the program since all software will be provided, upgrades are included and lots of textbooks will be eliminated. The cost of buying books will diminish. I think the text-book publishers better get cracking and use .PDF’s to publish the textbooks!

I think Ms. Dingess should have worked with the school district instead of calling in the ACLU. My option. Here is the parent group who opposes the "Laptops for Learning" program.

Happy Birthday USMC!

Ok, I know I’m affiliated with NAVY but I do admire the Marine Corps. A lot of Marines are fighting the fight to save our country from terrorism and Islamo-fascism. Happy 230 Jarheads! We love you! (I heard the Jarhead movie was bad from Froggy!)
