Shuttle Grounded

Thursday, July 28th, 2005

Why can’t the politicians stay out of the Space Program and let the shuttle engineers fix the problems! NASA is publicly funded, but it can’t let the bureaucracy run the show. I do like the new NASA chief Griffin. (He is part Vulcan you know!) Getting private enterprise in to support the ISS and low earth orbit will let NASA pay attention to getting out there to explore. Our county formed 230 years ago which was caused by exploration of the NEW World. There are more NEW worlds to explore. It is our destiny to explore. So let us put up with the risk and expand to the far reaches of our universe. Keep the politicians out!

Local National Guard Unit

I live about 1/2 mile away from the Fullerton National Guard Unit . I feel bad the local guys are in trouble in Iraq. I want to send support to the familes and hope the ones guilty are punished.

Beginning the blog

Tuesday, July 26th, 2005

Today we all watched the shuttle launch on TV this morning. It was a fantastic launch! I woke up at 5 AM and turned on NASA TV. I watched the white-room guys carefully place each astronaut in their chairs and hook them up. I really liked how NASA covered the launch this time. IT was nice to have the interior shots of the crew. Also after the launch, to see all the different camera replays of the launch.

I decided to start a blog about being a Navy Wife. My husband is in the reserves and will retire soon. He was a submariner for 6 years active duty, then has been in several reserve units since then. I want to blog about the war and what reactions I get when I mention my Husband being in the reserves. I always get the reaction, "I hope he doesn’t get sent to Iraq!" I tell them that I support my hubby, the war, the president and all the other guys and gals in the military. I have no say in the matter if he gets sent. I knew when I married my husband that three things could happen. If he had to go to war he would either come back OK, wounded or in a box (dead). I accepted  it willingly. I believe in my country and the right to defend it. I look up to him and others who are fighting this war. They sacrifice their lives to defend ours. They are very brave and heroes to me.
